Help can I help my child progress?
Next Steps
Here are some exercises you can work on at home with your Grade 6 student.
Below Mastery
With your student, write and evaluate numerical expressions. Ask your student to solve 4(6 + 9), to describe (6 + 9) as both a sum and a single entity, and describe how the 4 is distributed.
At or Near Mastery
With your student, write equations and inequalities to describe everyday situations. If Tanya has fewer than 7 hats, how many hats could she have? Could she have 3.5 hats?
Above Mastery
With your student, solve real-world story problems using variables while your student asks questions. Is my strategy working? Is my strategy generalizable? Does my answer make sense?
